Diary of a mad homeowner

The trials and tribulations of fixing up a house filled with character but not much else

Mad cap

The world’s dirtiest cap for my woodstove. It’s too short by two feet, and the ceiling cap was done incorrectly. I have someone who said they can find me an Amerivent pipe to replace the burned and damaged pipe that’s now there.

I was told it would cost $500 to repair the pipe with a new piece, but maybe he can find the specific pipe somewhere, possibly used. I have little faith that this repair will not be costly. Good thing I have a good furnace, but I’m concerned that if they power does go out in and it’s cold, I’ll be stuck.

All this wood, and no place to burn it.
