The trials and tribulations of fixing up a house filled with character but not much else

Friends know how bad my floors are but few people know just how bad my flaky painted plywood is.

When I bought the house the floors were plywood stained by years of water, dog pee and mountain grime. Dog urine wafted throughout the house the dirt was a bonus. Many hours later the floors were cleaned and painted over with Kilz. It took two five-gallon cans and a lot of ventilation to get the smell gone.

That paint is what you can see in the pictures below. Some of it held up OK, other areas took a hammering from foot traffic and neglect.

That all ended in early May 2013 when my friend Jeremy Papasso took on the job of installing 1,300 square feet of cabin quality golden oak floors.

This should be interesting.
